Head Chef / Cook – Residential Care Home

Location: Bishop’s Stortford
Salary: £15 per hour
Hours: 35-40 hours per week (7am – 7pm shifts)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We are recruiting for a dedicated and passionate Head Chef / Cook to join the team at a well-established residential care home in Bishop’s Stortford. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents, catering to individual dietary needs and ensuring a positive dining experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with care home catering experience who takes pride in creating meals that support residents’ health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary requirements.

• Manage kitchen operations, including food ordering, stock control, and hygiene standards.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.

• Work closely with care staff to adapt menus for residents with specialist needs (e.g. soft diets, allergies).

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen at all times.

Requirements

• Previous care home catering experience (essential)

• Driver (preferred)

• Food Hygiene Level 2 or willingness to complete (preferable)

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• A genuine passion for food and providing excellent service
